United Way of LES collecting donations to help ensure successful start for new family shelter
SALISBURY, Md. – A revamped family shelter is getting ready to open up in Princess Anne. The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (UWLES) is collecting items to ensure the shelter has a successful start.
What was formerly the Lower Shore Shelter is reopening under the Seton Center’s management. The Seton Center is part of Catholic Charities USA.
“This is a critical need for our community,” said UWLES President and CEO Pam Gregory. “We really need to have additional placements, especially for families. And, the Seton Center will be able to provide that support.”
UWLES’ Women United is sponsoring a supply drive for the things shelter guests will need to get a good night’s sleep.
“We need twin sized new, not used, sheet sets of any style or color, standard sized pillows, and twin sized blankets and comfortoers,” Gregory said.
Gregory says UWLES is hoping to collect everything in the next few weeks, as the shelter will be opening soon.
Those who are able to help out can do so by dropping off donation items at the UWLES office in Salisbury, Monday through Friday, until about 4 p.m. each day. The office is located at 803 North Salisbury Boulevard, Suite 2100.
However, the UWLES is always open to people helping out in other ways. You can find more than 150 local organizations, partnered with UWLES, that need volunteers or donations by clicking here.
