Organization applying for grants to change face of downtown Snow Hill

SNOW HILL, Md. – The area surrounding the Pocomoke River could soon be seeing some big changes.

The Lower Shore Land Trust has applied for two grants from the Rural Maryland Council to transform this space. Their plans include connecting the riverwalk with the Pocomoke River Canoe Company, a facility or extension of campus for education about natural resources, native plants and landscaping.

Land Trust officials tell us they have been working with the Town of Snow Hill, as well as Worcester County Tourism to make this vision a reality.

These plans also fit in with the Snow Hill 2025 strategic plan.

“By creating this housing, or house for education, we can be a draw that will bring people and visitors into Snow Hill and support local business,” explained Kate Patton, the executive director of the Lower Shore Land Trust.

We’re told it will be about two to three months before officials receive word about these grants.
