Dover man arrested in connection to robbery in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Dover man in connection to a robbery that happened early this month in Magnolia.

According to police, the incident happened just after 11:30 a.m. on June 3rd, in the 200 block of E. Cherry Drive. A 44-year-old male victim reported that he and a 6-year-old child were sitting inside of his girlfriend’s vehicle on the property, while the child’s 36-year-old father was standing outside of the vehicle. The victims were then approached by a male subject who pulled a handgun out of his bag and demanded that the child be taken out of the vehicle.

The victims and the child were able to flee on foot unharmed. When the victims came back, they found that an unknown amount of money and a cell phone were stolen from the vehicle.

Further investigation led police to identify the suspect as 39-year-old Lamar Brooks, who was taken into custody in the Dover area on Thursday. Brooks was charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of aggravated menacing, and theft. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $141,000 secured bond.
