Blood drive planned in Ocean City Wednesday

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean CIty Summer Blood Drive returns to the Convention Center Wednesday. It’s the fourth year the Blood Bank of Delmarva has held a big blood drive in the resort town in the Summer. Officials say it’s a critical time for donations as most tend to drop off over the Summer. Organizers say donors tend to focus on vacations plus the Blood Bank of Delmarva loses access to a big resource when schools aren’t in session.

“With the school year just ending, we no longer can rely on high schools and colleges to hold blood drives that account for an astonishing 25 percent of blood that we collect during the school year,” says Tony Prado, Communications Specialist with the Blood Bank of Delmarva.

If you are interested in giving blood Wednesday, the Blood Bank of Delmarva still has appointments available. You can click here to check for available appointments.

Officials say they will also take walk-ins if you don’t get an appointment. The blood drive runs from 9AM-3PM at the Roland E Powell Convention Center in O.C.
