Preston teen charged in connection to recent swatting incidents

PRESTON, Md. – A Preston teen is facing felony charges, as police say he’s responsible for two separate swatting incidents.

The first incident happened on May 6th, when a caller reportedly told police in Ohio that he had shot his mother and brother and would shoot first responders arriving at the scene. When police arrived, they determined it was a swatting call. A couple and five children were ordered out of the home while police cleared the scene.

The following day, someone reported an active shooter at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, which was also ruled to be a hoax.

Police traced the calls back to a 17-year-old male in Preston, who has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice on two counts of serious injury/death false report of an emergency/crime.
