Sussex Tech grabs 2024 Henlopen Baseball Championship

LAUREL, Del. – The Sussex Tech Ravens beat Laurel 4-1 to win the 2024 Henlopen Conference Championship.

Brock O’Day‘s RBI double gave the Ravens a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning. Sussex Tech added another run to take a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the frame.

Laurel’s Ryan Jones responded with a solo shot to grant the Bulldogs their only run of the game. A Laurel wild pitch and a Kameron Tindley RBI gave Sussex Tech the separation they needed to win the Henlopen title 4-1.

After the game, Sussex Tech Head Coach George Jefferson said this trophy meant a lot for the team.

“It’s huge for our kids, it’s huge for our momentum, it’s huge for our morale as a team and these kids have worked their tail off to finally achieve one of the goals we set out to get to. Anytime you can put a medal around your neck and a conference jacket on your back and put that up in the gym, regardless if it’s a conference championship or a division championship, there’s a memento,” Jefferson said.
