Pocomoke City Cypress Carnival wraps up

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – People across Pocomoke City this week celebrated the return of a festival that had been phased out years ago.

Pocomoke City officials decided to reinvent the old Cypress Festival with the creation of the Cypress Carnival.

The carnival kicked off on Thursday with all sorts of amusement rides, food and live music.

This carnival serves as an official kick off to the summer season.

People in Pocomoke say an event like this was much needed in the community.

“It gives families something to do,” said Clare Javlonski.

“The movie theater isn’t always opened, and it’s a great way to get people outside and get some exercise,” said Javlonski.

Admission to the Cypress Carnival is free.

Organizers say they plan to make the carnival an annual event and it will likely grow bigger and better in the years to come.
