Bridgeville man rolls car in pursuit; tries to escape from police station after arrest

The Harrington Police Department says a Bridgeville man was arrested on Sunday after he failed to pull over for a traffic stop and led an officer on a vehicle pursuit.
At around 8:02 PM, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on South DuPont Highway near Fairgrounds Road. The vehicle did not stop and led the officer onto Tower Hill Road, Farmington Road and Hammondtown Road. Eventually the vehicle continued onto Prospect Church Road and turned onto Todds Chapel Road.
Police say while attempting to make a turn on Todds Chapel Road, the vehicle in pursuit slid off the roadway and rolled over. The driver exited the vehicle and continued fleeing on foot. The officer chased the man and used a taser to subdue the suspect, who was identified as 35-year-old Dionne E. Warner.
Police say drug paraphernalia was found in Warner's car.
Warner was treated by EMS on scene but refused to be taken to a hospital for further treatment. He was taken directly to the Harrington Police Department for processing.
According to police, when an officer was escorting Warner to the restroom at the police department, Warner fled out of the building and had to be chased down on foot by police. After a short pursuit, Warner was taken into custody yet again and returned to the police department.
Warner is charged with disregarding a police officer signal, two counts of resisting arrest, third degree escape, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to have insurance ID in possession, failure to have registration card in possession, seven counts of failure to signal turn, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, six counts of failure to drive at appropriate speed, failure to obey a traffic control device and drive in proper lane and direction.
Police say Probation and Parole additionally had an active warrant issued for Warner for absconding.
Warner was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on a secured bail of $3,720.
