Wicomico Co. Health Department encourages holistic wellness during Natl. Public Health Week

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – This week marks National Public Health Week.

The Wicomico County Health Department is encouraging the community to get active.

Director of prevention and health communications, Tammy Griffin, said a single person’s health can have an effect on the whole community, and preventing diseases on your own can possibly encourage others to do the same.

“The health of the community really affects the lives of all of the members of that community,” Griffin said. “When a community is not healthy and thriving, you’re going to see an increase in chronic diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, so the health of our community is critical.”
