Lower Shore Autism Community celebrates Autism Awareness Day

DELMARVA. – Today marks world Autism Awareness Day and officials are calling on community members to help create a welcoming environment.
On Tuesday, the Lower Shore Autism Community is advocating on behalf of individuals from across Delmarva, who have autism.
LSA Community President, Clay Belgie, said with more babies being diagnosed, the need for enhanced research is at an all-time high.
“It’s very important that we realize that researchers are telling us that roughly about 1 in 5 newborns today will have something on the autism spectrum,” Belgie said.
