Scholarship available for students looking to improve the Delmarva business community
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury area Chamber of Commerce Foundation has launched a new scholarship fund. Donors hope the scholarships will encourage students to use their skills right here on Delmarva. The scholarship is open to members of the Chamber, and family members of employees of Chamber members.
“We’re trying to get individuals to stay local,” says SACCF Co-Chair Karri Todd. “They’re planning on going away to college, we want them to come back to give improvement within our City and our Counties and so it’s not just Wicomico County it’s the Delmarva Peninsula.”
Chosen students will receive $1,000 yearly for up to four years of study or a one-time award for trade scholarships. Part of the application process is an essay describing how you would give back to the Delmarva Community when you graduate. Donors say you don’t have to graduate from a four-year program to be chosen.
“Like if you’re staying local and getting your CDL from WorWic or if you’re doing a trade like welding or something like that, you’re absolutely eligible as well. So again it broadens the horizons of the individuals we need in the workforce in the future,” explains Todd.
The application deadline is February 28. You can find the application by clicking here. Winners will be announced in March.
