Multi-jurisdictional investigation into illegal heroin trafficking results in numerous arrests

SUSSEX CO., Del. – 16 people were arrested or indicted on over 70 charges after an eight-month long investigation into illegal drug trafficking wrapped up last month.

“Operation Royal Flush” was a multi-jurisdictional investigation conducted by 11 agencies in Delaware and Maryland. We’re told that during the investigation, multiple search warrants were executed and more than 800 grams of raw heroin and two firearms were seized.

Officials say the investigation wrapped up back on April 22nd, when members of the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team, Maryland State Police Heroin Investigation Unit, Delaware State Police (DSP Sussex County Drug Unit and the DSP Governor’s Task Force) presented a multiple count indictment in Sussex County. An additional seven count indictment was issued in Worcester County the next day.

Investigation revealed that 32-year-old Prince Gordon of Ocean Pines was heading a drug trafficking organization that was distributing quantities of heroin throughout Sussex County Delaware and Worcester County Maryland. Through police efforts, detective conducted lawful searches of the following locations:

  • Unit block of Mill Chase Circle Unit, Millsboro DE
  • 3000 block of Savannah East Apartments in Lewes DE
  • 200 block of South Main Street, Colonial Gardens Apartments, Bridgeville DE
  • Unit block of Duck Cove Circle, Ocean Pines MD
  • 500 block of Bay Street, Berlin MD

As a result of these searches, detectives seized over 800 grams of raw heroin, two loaded handguns, nearly $11,000 in cash, and two heroin processing kits including packaging materials. Police say the heroin that was seized as a result of this investigation was determined to have a street value of nearly $1,000,000.

Gordon, the head of the operation, was indicted/arrested on the following charges:

  • Delaware: Criminal racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, four counts of drug dealing with an aggravating factor, six counts of conspiracy 2nd degree, five counts of drug dealing, three counts of drug dealing tier 4, three counts of possession of controlled substance tier 5, aggravated possession tier 1 with aggravating factor, two counts of drug dealing tier 2 with aggravating factor, aggravated possession tier 1, criminal solicitation 2nd degree and drug paraphernalia
  • Maryland: Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession firearm drug trafficking crime, CDS possession firearms, regulated firearm illegal possession, firearm possession with felony conviction, narcotic production equipment, and CDS possession not marijuana: fentanyl.

Gordon is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Center in default of $631,200 cash bond.

  • 34-year-old Marvin Newbill of Federalsburg
  • 29-year-old Courtney Hayward of Delmar, DE
  • 31-year-old Darshon Adkins
  • 31-year-old Anthony Sturgis of Dagsboro
  • 31-year-old Raymond Jackson of Millsboro
