Locals react to possible increase in Chesapeake Bay funding
47 ABC – Governor Larry Hogan is praising the House Appropriations Committee after approving a bill that will actually increase funding for restoring the Chesapeake Bay.
If the full house and then Senate passes it too, that would be a big win for local organizations working tirelessly to improve the health of the bay, especially since President Donald Trump proposed cuts to it earlier this year.
John Stroutt of Wicomico Environmental Trust explains, “It’s certainly a commitment by the federal government at least the house appropriations committee and supported by Governor Hogan in Maryland so that’s important we’re going in the right direction and we’re seeing results.”
In a tweet Governor Larry Hogan said in part, “I am calling on the full House to support this common sense action to help us continue our historic progress improving the health of this national treasure.”
