Public forum to discuss affordable housing in Sussex County

GEORGETOWN, Del. – To help address challenges like homelessness and affordable housing Sussex County officials will be hosting a public forum on Tuesday, May 21 to hear from the community.

Sussex County officials say they are looking for suggestions from neighbors, housing advocates and property owners about the county’s housing needs.

Advocate Jim Martin says he will continue to push for the construction of micro-home shelters for the homeless. Many people in the homeless community say they are excited to support this idea.

“It’s going to be law abiding, it’s going to be clean,” said Patricia Cookson, a local car dweller.

“It’s just we need a chance, and we need that step up to help us get off from the ground again and have a home, have a steady structure to work with,” said Cookson.

The public forum will take place on Tuesday, May 21st at 6 PM at the County Administrative Offices building in Georgetown.
