Documents reveal accusations against former Pocomoke City Manager, Bobby Cowger
POCOMOKE, Md. – On Tuesday, 47ABC uncovered more details about why Bobby Cowger may have been voted out as City Manager of Pocomoke City.
47ABC recently uncovered leaked documents, confirmed to be legitimate by Bobby Cowger and his attorney, which outline the city’s accusations against Cowger. We also have obtained Cowger’s response to each of these allegations.
In the documents, the city claims Cowger had a “lack of trust, character and integrity.”
The city claims Cowger did things like: take out a loan from Hebron Savings Bank where his nephew was the representative, start a department without council approval, offer the Salvation Army building to someone for a dollar, bring down morale in city offices and not take an ethics class required by the city.
Cowger responded saying he is proud of his accomplishments and he is very “trustworthy, and of high character and integrity.”
Cowger insists that the city needed financing and Hebron Savings Bank was a good choice. He also denies that he started a department without council approval, and he claims the dollar offer of the Salvation Army building was a joke. Cowger also says there was no issue in the city with morale.
In regards to the ethics class, Cowger admits he is guilty of not following up, but claims it was only because he was dealing with public works issues in the city.
Cowger has less than 30 days to request a public hearing to convince council members that he deserves to keep his job.
