Electrical failure causes house fire in Somerset Co.
WESTOVER, Md. – An electrical failure destroyed a Somerset County home Monday morning, according to officials.
Just before 10:30 a.m., firefighters responded to 8137 Upper Hill Road for a reported house fire. Crews battled the blaze for roughly two hours before it was brought under control.
Further investigation by fire marshals revealed that the fire began on the front porch/sunroom area and was caused by an electrical failure at the fuse panel box. Total damage has been estimated at $150,000.
The occupants were displaced as a result of this fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
