Wicomico Co. State’s Attorney releases statement on recent violence in Salisbury

Shooting Investigation

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes has issued a statement regarding the recent violence in Salisbury.

Wednesday night, deputies investigated an incident in which assailants shot into an occupied dwelling on Carolyn Avenue. That same night, Salisbury Police officers investigated another shooting where individuals shot into another occupied dwelling on Davis Street.

Thursday evening, police say three Salisbury University students were shot after they reportedly tried to deny a group of uninvited guests entry into a house in the 300 block of Ohio Avenue. We’re told all three suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

“In the 36 hours since I briefed the Judiciary Committee, our community has continued to be besieged by levels of violence unprecedented in recent memory,” said State’s Attorney Dykes. “We cannot be content to live in a community where gun violence is a daily occurrence – our children deserve better.”

State’s Attorney Dykes is urging anyone with information on any of these incidents to come forward. Tips can be reported to Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, or the Salisbury Police Department.
