Dover man arrested in connection to multiple burglaries

KENT CO., Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Dover man on Thursday in connection to several residential burglaries in Kent County.

Troop 3 Property Crimes Unit began investigating several residential burglaries in February of this year. Officials say a total of four similar incidents happened on Downs Chapel Road, Seeneytown Road, and Sewell Branch Road, all in Clayton, as well as Everetts Corner Road in Hartly. In all four cases, an unknown suspect forced entry into single and double wide trailers and stole electronics and tools.

Further investigation led troopers to identify the suspect as 53-year-old George Thomas of Dover, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On Thursday, Smyrna Police stopped Thomas for a traffic violation and subsequently took him into custody.

Thomas was charged with four counts of second degree burglary, theft $1500 or greater (felony), three counts of theft under $1500, and four counts of criminal mischief. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $46,300 cash only bond.
