Fatal electric scooter crash under investigation in Worcester Co.

BERLIN, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal electric scooter crash in Berlin.

At around 6 a.m. Monday, troopers responded to Route 50 west in the area of Route 589 for a reported crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Ford Fusion hit an electric scooter.

The operator of the scooter, identified as 20-year-old Muhammed Ekinci of Turkey, was taken to Atlantic General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 45-year-old Katie Tucker of Berlin, refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
