Wicomico Public Library new bookmobile almost kicked into gear

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico Public Library is finishing up the final building stages of their new and improved bookmobile.

The new mobile library operates out of a bus to provide community members with free learning resources who lack reliable transportation or a public library within close proximity to their home.

Wicomico public Library executive director Seth Hershberger has been a big advocate for the mobile source of learning.

He says all parts of Wicomico County, not just here in Downtown Salisbury, should have a free public library service no matter where they are located.

“Mobile services are a really important part of library services, especially here in Wicomico County, because we have the large branch where we are right now, Sarbanes Branch in the Middle of Salisbury, and we have a couple of smaller branches,” Hershberger said. “There are a lot of areas of the county where we do not have library services unless we take our mobile vehicles there and set them up, so those communities have access to the library as well.”
