Atlantic General Hospital adding Pediatric Physician positions thanks to Rural Maryland Council Grant

BERLIN, Md –  Atlantic General Hospital is announcing the hiring of a new Pediatric specialist thanks to a grant from the Rural Maryland Council.

The $200,000 grant helped the hospital to hire Dr. Christian Salgado, for the role where he will serve as a family pediatrician for checkups, immunizations, and other key parts of child health care.

Vice President of Atlantic General Hospital Dr. Sally Dowling tells us this has been a need in the community and they are glad to be able to help more families have access to crucial services.

“We’re somewhat overwhelmed by the number of children in the area who are looking for a physician, so we were able to recruit Dr. Salgado and this grant helped with that process and was setting up his practice,” Dr. Dowling said adding “He is multilingual, which of course is a great benefit so he can communicate with more of the population in their native languages.”

She tells us Dr. Salgado is already accepting patients. offering primary care from birth to 18 years old.
