Annual Peach Competition returns to the Delaware State Fair
HARRINGTON, Del. – Things got a little peachy at the Delaware State Fair on Wednesday, as the annual Peach Recipe Competition made its return.
The competition is sponsored by Fifer Orchards, and contestants bring it items with peach as the main ingredient, making everything from an appetizer to a dessert.
Competition was stiff, and this year saw a record-breaking 16 entries, which made the judge’s jobs quite hard. They tell us scoring really came down to best presentation and taste.
“Some of our things are beautiful, they look amazing and perfect. Yet, it’s all about the taste and texture. It could be the best but if it doesn’t taste delicious then it’s not a winner. We’re looking for taste over anything,” said Trina Stump.
This year’s winner was a contestant who competed for the very first time, taking home the crown for their peach cheesecake.
