Millsboro man arrested for reckless endangerment following shooting incident
MILLSBORO, Del. – A Millsboro man is behind bars on charges stemming from a shooting incident Monday morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m., troopers responded to an area hospital for a man being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troopers met with the man, identified as 44-year-old Robert Bishop, who told police that he accidentally shot himself at a residence in the 30000 block of Cordrey Road. It was learned that Bishop shot himself in the wrist with a firearm while in his garage. Bishop’s 54-year-old employee was in the garage with him when the firearm was discharged, but he was not injured.
It was also learned that Bishop is a convicted felon prohibited from owning/possessing a firearm. Troopers recovered the firearm, ammunition, and a crossbow from Bishop’s residence.
After being discharged from the hospital, Bishop was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, second degree reckless endangering, and failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints. Bishop was issued a $13,500 unsecured bond for these charges and held at SCI on a $6,000 cash bond on several outstanding capiases.
