Warm weather driving business in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – As the weather heats up, more people are heading over to Ocean City, which is bringing more foot traffic to local businesses.

Susan Jones with the Hotel-Motel Restaurant Association says the sunny weather is what drives visitors to visit the businesses at the beach.

“Once it got hot out, we started seeing the phones ring a little more [and] traffic coming into town, so now it finally feels like summer,” Jones said.

Jeff Quillin at Nick’s Mini Golf says the location has been a hot spot for vacationers, as people come to the location to enjoy desserts and a game of golf.

“Most people are coming to play,” Quillin said. “With more heat, they tend to get the drinks and the ice cream or the Polish water ice after they play.”

As COVID-19 restrictions loosen up, Jones says she expects more people to flock to the town to see all it has to offer.

“”We hope to see droves of people,” Jones said. “We really want it to be hot and we want it to be steamy in [these] cities because when it is that hot, people do come.”

Susan Jones says Ocean city is looking forward to more business as visitors make their way to the vacation town, and if you’re looking to play mini golf, check out Nick’s Maui Gold at 101 57th street in Ocean City.
