Local animal organizations participate in National Adoption Weekend

EASTON, Md. – Several local animal organization on Delmarva partnered with PetSmart during the weekend to help furry friends find a new home.

This collaboration is part of the National Adoption Weekend.

Volunteers at the Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center in Rock Hall said they have 30 rabbits available for adoption at the shelter and five were brought out for the adoption events at the Easton PetSmart.

Volunteers said it can be challenging to take care of all these rabbits on their own so adoption event like this are important.

“Our home base is out of Rock Hall, which is a little bit of a drive for the shelter so it doesn’t provide us an opportunity to get a lot of the rabbits that maybe fosters have out in front of the public and so public events like this are crucial for us,” said Jeremy Buchman, a volunteer at the Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center.

Buchman said the Education Center will be hosting several fundraisers to keep up with expenses at the shelter.
