One killed during Saturday night crash in Laurel
LAUREL, Del. -Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Laurel area Saturday night.
According to police around 11:50 p.m., a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, operated by a 27-year-old male from Laurel, DE, was traveling eastbound on Shiloh Church Road, turning left at the curve of Johnson Road.
The driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle and went off the road entering a drainage ditch and overturning several times, throwing the driver from the vehicle.
The 27-year-old male operator of the Chevrolet who was not properly restrained, was pronounced deceased on the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.
Shiloh Church Road in the area of the collision was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated, and the roadway was cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this collision.
