Film festival to bring cultures together kicks off
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – This weekend kicks off the African American Film Festival at the Cinema Art Theater. The three-day event is hosted by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, their goal is to bridge cultures using the art of film.
Over the course of the three days, four films will be shown that showcase African American artists, and African American culture during the civil rights era, and prior.
Post-show screening discussions will take place to create a better understanding about different experiences in different cultures.
“Have an opportunity to see each other’s experience. You really don’t get to really live another person’s life, but film is the perfect medium for people to sort of go outside of themselves and experience another’s daily existence,” said Marshall Shord, manager of the Rehoboth Beach Film Society.
This film festival is put on in partnership with the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice. For more information you can go to rehobboth film dot com.
