Dover man charged after found passed out behind the wheel with concealed gun

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars after being charged for a DUI and weapons violations early Saturday morning.

Around 2:55 a.m. on May 27th, Delaware State Police responded to the intersection of South Dupont Highway and POW/MIA Parkway for a man passed out behind the wheel. Upon arrival, troopers found a gray Ford Edge stopped against a curb on northbound South Dupont Highway. Troopers attempted to wake the up the driver, identified as Keyon Williams, and say they detected signs of impairment.

Police say they also could smell burnt marijuana coming from the car, and saw marijuana in plain view. Williams was not alert, and was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment, say police. Troopers then searched the car, finding about 82.78 grams of marijuana and a concealed handgun.

Williams was later released from the hospital, and charged with possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance, and carrying a concealed firearm. He is also charged with possession of marijuana other than personal use quantity, possession of a firearm while under the influence, driving under the influence of drugs, and failure to remain within a single lane.

Williams is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,125 secured bond.
