North Dorchester HS ahead of schedule with renovation project
HURLOCK, Md. – North Dorchester High School originally built in 1953 is finally being replaced.
Students and alumni are saying and looking forward to the $40 million project that is underway, right next door.
Their principal, Jacqueline Sorrells, tells 47 ABC that this will be a state of the art building that will act as a hub for community events.
We’re told everything was designed to help encourage students to continue learning.
Sorrells says, “There was tremendous thought put into furnishings, the fixtures, the actual design and how will this enhance the learning program for all of our students. It’s not just a building, it’s actually functioning as the learning program for our kids.”
We’re told right now they are ahead of schedule and have about 90% of their work done.
They plan to move to the new building in June and demolish the old one, so it can become their parking lot.
