Virginia State Police respond to more than 300 crashes

(AP) – Virginia State Police have responded to hundreds of crashes and stuck vehicles as snow blanketed the state.

Police say they responded to 325 crashes and 322 disabled vehicles across the state between midnight and noon on Saturday. Police say they have received thousands of calls for service.

Police say responders are busiest central Virginia, Hampton Roads and Southside Virginia. There are no reported fatalities.

Officials say the roads across much of the state are treacherous and are encouraging residents to stay home.
