Scholarship applications now open for students seeking careers in chicken industry

DELMARVA – Are you a student interested in a career in the chicken industry?

The Delmarva Chicken Association’s 2023 Scholarship Program is now accepting applications.

Every year, $17,000 in funding goes to support undergraduate (4 $2,000 scholarships) and graduate students (3 $3,000 scholarships).

We spoke with DCA Communication’s Manager James Fisher, who tells us many are often surprised by the different degrees offered that are relevant to a career in poultry. “Careers in finance and accounting are important. Also, careers in business even. You may find yourself negotiating grain prices with international buyers,” Fisher said.

“Agriculture, chicken, and many other forms of agriculture plays a big part in Delmarva’s economy. There are more than 18,000 jobs just in 5 chicken companies that operate on Delmarva,” Fisher said.

The application deadline is April 7th.
