Today’s Forecast: January 16, 2019

Tonight will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with cold temperatures in the mid and upper 20s.

Clouds will increase throughout the day on Thursday ahead of a clipper system with highs in the low 40s. Scattered showers from that system will move in late Thursday night. Areas north of Salisbury will see the rain mix with snow, and some light accumulations are possible. Skies will gradually clear on Friday with slightly milder temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50.

Saturday will be partly sunny with highs in the mid and upper 40s. Rain will move in after dark and continue into the night. Rain will briefly change to a wintry mix Sunday afternoon as a strong arctic front moves through. Temperatures on Sunday will start out in the 50s before dropping to the 20s by the evening, then falling into the teens overnight. This could create a flash freeze situation as well, meaning anything wet on the ground will quickly freeze, creating hazardous conditions. We’re also concerned about strong wind gusts above 40 mph and wind chill values that will likely drop below zero Sunday night and Monday morning. Stay tuned for more details over the next few days.

Monday will be partly sunny and much colder with high temperatures only rising into the mid-20s. Tuesday turns mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 30s. A little warmer on Wednesday with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s.

Have a great night!
