Accomack Co. man arrested for firing shots at law enforcement officers

QUINBY, Va. – A Virginia man is behind bars after he allegedly fired shots at law enforcement officers Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m., the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a verbal domestic incident between a mother and son on Creek View Lane. Deputies responded to the area and found a female on the porch of the residence. As they were gathering information, a man reportedly stepped out of the residence while displaying a firearm at the deputies. Deputies immediately took cover behind their patrol vehicle while the man went back inside the residence and began firing at the deputies from inside.

Additional law enforcement officers responded, and the man, identified as 18-year-old Anthony Baumgardner, was taken into custody. Baumgardner was charged with two counts of attempted capital murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and vandalism.

Baumgardner is behind held at the Accomack County Jail without bond.
