WiHi gets revenge on the Lions in first round of the playoffs

CENTREVILLE, Md.– WiHi defeated Queen Anne’s in a final score of 20-13 in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night.

WiHi would be the ones to strike first as Jordan Hayman would punch it up the gut for the TD to make it 7-0. Queen Anne’s would respond immediately on the next drive as Kj Smothers would break free for long TD run to tie it up 7-7.

Darius Foreman would help his Tribe retake the lead at the end of the 1st quarter to make it 14-7. The Lions snuck in a field goal before halftime to make it 14-10.

Chris Wells and the Tribe came out of the gate red hot in the 3rd quarter as Wells would shake off some tackles to make it a 20-10 game with 9:30 left in the 3rd. Queen Anne’s would make another field goal to cut it to 20-13 but that’s as close as the Tribe would let them get.

The big story of the game was WiHi’s defense as the defensive line came up huge stopping Kj Smothers and only holding him to one TD on the night. Their secondary came up huge as their corners and safeties broke up huge 4th down passes to keep the Lions away from the redzone.

WiHi moves on in the playoffs and takes on Kent Island next week.
