4 year old shot, injured at Delaware apartment complex

MILFORD, Del. -At Brightway Commons Apartment Complex, Milford police say a child was shot after being caught in the crossfire — and now an active investigation is underway.

“Pissed, uneasy, and uncertain.”

Neighbors in the area tell 47 ABC they’re fed up after a four year old girl was hit by a stray bullet Sunday night.

Just before 8 p.m. police say a fight broke out on the south side of Allen Way at Brightway.

In the heat of the altercation, police say an unknown suspect fired several shots into the air.

One of those bullets fired into a home hitting a young girl.

One neighbor tells 47 she is scared as much as she is heartbroken since she knows the little girl and her family.

Fearing for her own safety she didn’t want to reveal her identity.

She said, “I don’t even want to celebrate Christmas because I can feel the pain. I know the little girl personally.”

The neighbor tells 47 ABC this shooting hits even closer to home because she has young children living with her.

She said, “I have grand-kids and they were actually downstairs. I can only imagine if [the bullet] came through my door.”

Fed up with all the gun violence at Brightway Commons this resident has one request, “Put the guns down. Talk it out.”

She also said, “There’s a four year old little girl that was injured and her family could be burying her right now.”

Police say the girl is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

Milford Police are asking anyone who who has seen or heard anything to please contact them as this information is critical to their investigation.
