Jones’ 24 not enough as Seaford falls to Arundel

The Seaford boys basketball team suffered a tough loss Monday afternoon when they fell to Arundel 68-42 in the first round of the Overtime Christmas Tournament Classic. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 3-4 on the year.

The Wildcats would be able to build a big early lead before the Blue Jays finally found their rhythm. Andrez Jones would connect on a couple long balls before getting to the cup in transition for a few more easy scores. The senior would score 10 of his 24 points in the first quarter alone as Seaford would stay within striking distance. Once he found his groove, Tquan Frasier would be able to get into the action, connecting on a long ball of his own and adding a lay up as the deficit was kept to single digits. The long balls continued to fall for Seaford as Jones and Nathan Barrett both knocked down 2 more in the second half. The Blue Jays would climb within 7, but the Wildcats would close out the game strong. Arundel would go to a press and turnover Seaford for several easy transition baskets. The lead quickly grew to over 20 and was too much for the Blue Jays to overcome.

Seaford returns to action on Tuesday when they face Queen Anne's in the consolation game.
