Weather Tidbits: Virga

This Weather Tidbits explains the difference between virga and precipitation. Precipitation is rain that reaches the ground; while virga encounters dry air which makes the rain evaporate before reaching the ground. The one thing both have in common, is that the rain falls from the clouds. Virga has the appearance of a rain streamer hanging in the air and can occur with snow too.
