Body discovered in drainage pond near Coventry Square Apartments in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – A disturbing discovery made in Salisbury over the weekend, as police found a body floating in an algae covered drainage pond.
Residents at Coventry Square Apartments say the news came as a shock. “When I arrived home Saturday night from work my upstairs neighbor told me there was a body found in the pond, which is kind of scary being that it’s 500 feet from my patio,” said Trina.
As the sun came up on Sunday morning, so did many questions, in a neighborhood described as quiet. “It’s just puzzling. Everybody wants answers. What happened? How did it happen? Did he slip and fall? It looks green in here. Did he think it was grass? Or was there foul play? We’re just not sure,” said Sandie James.
Information remains extremely limited at this time. Police are not yet revealing any information about how the man ended up in the water, or why he was walking around the area. The uncertainty putting those who know the man’s family on edge.
“It’s scary. Any loss of life is definitely puzzling, questionable. It’s scary. You’re in an apartment complex with children and people. To come across a body, it’s really sad,” said James.
In a Facebook post, Salisbury Police wrote that the victim has been identified, and was taken to to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The Facebook post went on to say anyone with information is asked to contact Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (410) 548-3165.
