Pig kissing contest makes its way back to the Delaware State Fair for the 29th year

HARRINGTON, Del.– Competitors at the Delaware State Fair got in on a kissing competition, a pig kissing competition.

The Delaware 4-H Foundation sponsors the event. They’re recruiting people to go out and raise money to support the Junior Exhibitors Scholarship.
They will then go up on stage participating in different activities. At the end of the competition, leaders will announce who raised the most money, who raised the least, and who was the competition favorite. Then, those competitors get to land a kiss on a pig.

“It’s a lot of work to pull together, it’s a lot of work to convince people, twist some arms to kiss a pig, but it’s well worth it when you see the faces of the kids that receive the scholarships and how it’s helping them further their college endeavors,” Doug Crouse, State 4-H Program Leader, said.

The foundation is now starting their 29th year of raising money for scholarships. In the last 28 years, they’ve given out over $180,000.
