Holiday season arrives in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – It’s that time of year, we’re not even through Thanksgiving yet, but Friday night the annual lighting of the holiday display took place in downtown Salisbury.

This is all part of the last outdoor Third Friday of the year.  Before the official lighting folks got to enjoy special performances by the Wilcox Family Band, Pinehurst Elementary Choir, and other local artists.

Santa arrived in the middle of the action on Division Street as the switch was flipped officially lighting the display to the joy of hundreds of on-lookers.

The annual tree lighting has become a tradition for many locals as we near the holiday season.

“I’ve never seen that many people in one area in this area before. So it was really cool to see just so many cultures, so many colors come together for the tree lighting,” said Erica Matthews, a visitor for the tree lighting.

In anticipation of the Hanukkah season, the menorah will be displayed with the tree, fully lit, until Hanukkah begins on December 2 when the daily lightings begins.
