UPDATE: One person dead after Laurel car crash

Police say that a person has died after a two car crash happened on Gordy Road near Wootten Road in Laurel on Monday morning.
According to Delaware State Police, on 7:50AM on Monday morning, a 35-year-old woman from Willards, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck west bound on Gordy Road, west of the intersection of Wooten Road in Laurel. The woman then negotiated a moderate left curve. At the same time, a 64-year-old woman from Delmar, Delaware was driving a 2005 Ford explorer eastbound on Gordy Road, approaching the Silverado. Police say as the pickup truck was traveling through the curve, the driver lost control and began to rotate clockwise, leaving the westbound travel lane and crossing into the eastbound lane.
Police say that because the driver of the Explorer was trying to avoid a crash, she swerved to the right, however the front center crashed into the right side of the truck. After the impact, the Chevrolet pick-up continued rotating counterclockwise and came to a stop in a ditch. Police say the Ford Explorer rotated slightly clockwise and came to a stop in the same ditch, just west of the truck.
The 35-year-old woman and a 36-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck were reportedly taken from the scene by EMS, and transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Police say the woman was admitted for non-life threatening injuries, but the man was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
Police say that the 64-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
All names are reportedly being withheld until families are notified.
Police say that the Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident, and that carges may be forthcoming for the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado. Gordy Road between Old Stage Road and Wootten Road was reportedly closed for about three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
