Community honors Veterans of Foreign Wars Meuse Post 194 Anniversary

SALISBURY, Md. – Dozens of local veterans and their families gathered to celebrate the 96th Anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Meuse Post 194 on Sunday.

Veterans at the annual event said the celebration is a chance to help local organizations like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Salvation Army.

They said some of the funds collected at the event come from people playing with slot machines inside the post building, and it helps local veterans in need pay for things like bills and transportation in Maryland.

“It’s something that we hadn’t celebrated in the last year or two, and we were able to get it this year, and we’re trying to get other veterans in here and some people from the community, so that they can understand what V.F.W. is all about,” said Danny Steinson, a local veteran.

Steinson also said funds collected during these events also helps to pay services for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Meuse Post 194.
