Ocean City visitors take part in fall season traditions
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Crisp, fall days are here and that means all across Delmarva people are taking part in their favorite fall festivities.
“In the fall, I start to bake a lot more, so I’ll bake pie with my family for Thanksgiving and with my friends we’ll come over for cookies and that type of thing,” said Danielle Wetzel, a visitor.
“I enjoy the fall season because we get to dress up and go trick-or-treating,” said Ajayla Parker, a visitor.
“I like getting candy and I like when my dad mixes hot cocoa, and we get to watch movies,” said Parker.
According to visitors and local residents, there can be many ways to celebrate the fall season like picking a pumpkin or going through a frightening maze.
“Fall is my birthday season, so I like to celebrate my birthday all month long in October and to do that going to pumpkin patches and there’s so much to do versus the summer,” said Wetzel.
“I like the festivals,” said Sara Weaver, a Salisbury resident.
“There’s a lot of fall festivals, so like wine festivals, beer festivals and fall festivals in general are great,” said Weaver.
And, at many of these festivals you will find people of all ages dressed up in costumes of goons and goblins as well as celebrities.
“I want to be Stephen Curry,” said Ben Rafinski, a visitor.
“The NBA player because my favorite sport is basketball, and he is my favorite basketball player,” said Rafinski.
“A couple times we have some friends over and dress up, but honestly I love seeing all the trick-or-treaters, and we hand out candy each year,” said Maria Heintzinger, a visitor.
But for some, celebrating this time of the year means staying indoors and enjoying a warm drink under a cozy blanket.
“Since it’s usually cold outside during the fall I usually stay inside, make some hot chocolate and cuddle with blankets so we can stay warm and since fall is near Halloween probably carve some pumpkins,” said Layla Frisby, a visitor.
While Halloween seems to be the main focus of fall festivities, people also said they enjoy spending time with their loved ones on Thanksgiving.
