Queen Anne’s County Sheriff announces scholarship fund
CENTREVILLE, Md. – Sheriff Gary Hofmann of the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff has announced a new scholarship fund designed to help members of the community who are pursuing a career in a law enforcement or other related field.
We’re told funding for this scholarship fund has been set up without any taxpayer dollars or any money from the Office of the Sheriff, but rather through Sheriff Hofmann’s work with several donors.
“I truly believe that any investment we can make in our students to ensure they have the availability to attend a local or out-of-state college to learn about law enforcement or a related field is truly an investment in our youth,” said Sheriff Hofmann.
Applications for these funds will be available twice a year. All submitted applications will go through a review committee and must meet a certain criteria. Applicants are asked to write an essay about a current topic or trend that is occurring either locally or nationally.
According to Sheriff Hofmann, the current applicants have been asked to comment on the opioid epidemic sweeping our nation.
More information about the scholarship fund can be found on the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff website under the scholarship tab.
