Wicomico County student selected to serve on Maryland Youth Advisory Council

SALISBURY, Md. – For the past month, a local voice is weighing in on issues that affects students across the state.

We caught up with Grace Acle, a sophomore from James M. Bennet High School, who is one of the 13 newly appointed members on the Maryland Youth Advisory Council.

The mission of the council is to address issues impacting students, spread awareness, and serve as a liaison between youth and lawmakers.

Acle says she’s excited to be a voice for Wicomico County and be a voice for teens, “I’m one of the only people on the Eastern Shore representing my county. I just love advocating for young people, I feel like we have one of the strongest opinions generation-wise and the smallest voices.”

Acle says the council has already met several times and she hopes to express her concerns about cyber bullying and cyber harassment with them. The council is made up of 24 members who are appointed for a 2-year term.
