American Cancer Society hosts its annual Great American Smoke Out

the great american smoke out challenges people to stop smoking– and educates those about the many resources they can use to help them quit. smokers across the nation use the date as the start of a long-term quit attempt– or even a day to practice quitting. and the wicomico county health department is also participating by providing “stop smoking kits”. the kits include information packets on how to stop smoking along with some tips– such as how much money it costs to spend on cigarettes. they also have a log sheet to keep track of how much they are smoking. candy is also included to use as an alternative. the director of preventions and health communications, cara rozaieski tells 47 abc– the importance of having a day dedicated to quit smoking. the damage that is caused by smoking does take years to show up most of it those long term effects such as cancer but there are intermediate things that happen too, such as shortness of breathe, a lot of mucus. butt sot and when someone quits smoking that stuff starts immediately to go down. and over time. their risk of cancer goes down also. the wicomico county health department offers stop smoking classes every thursday. for more information about this program– head over to website at 47 abc dot com. p-r-m-c and your doc’s in are partnering up. they plan to open a
