Dover Police make arrest in connection to robbery of an elderly man
DOVER, Del. – A man has been arrested after he was identified as the suspect in a robbery incident that reportedly took place on Thursday afternoon.
Dover Police officers were called to respond to the Unit Block of North New Street just before 2:30 PM Thursday for a reported robbery. On arrival, a 64-year-old man advised officers that he was approached by a man outside of his residence when the man forcefully took cash from his hand and dragged him to the ground.
Police were able to identify 51-year-old Elwood Jerome Ross as the suspect in the incident through surveillance footage captured on downtown cameras.
Officers in the area located Ross a short period of time later and subsequently arrested him.
Ross was charged with robbery 1st degree of a victim older than 62. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $25,000 bond.
