Lewes man arrested, charged with 5th DUI
LEWES, Del. – A Delaware man is behind bars after being arrested on his 5th DUI.
At around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the Beebe Healthcare parking lot on Savannah Road for a report of a male subject urinating in the parking lot in view of several people. When officers arrived they found 35-year-old Thomas Yetter passed out in a running vehicle near the emergency room entrance, with a fresh puddle of what appeared to be urine next to the vehicle.
Officers woke Yetter, he told police that he had just dropped his mother at the hospital and was resting in his vehicle. During the interaction, officers noticed there was a strong smell of alcohol and other physical signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests resulted in Yetter being taken into custody.
Yetter was found to have four prior DUI arrests, with the most recent being in July 2021. It was also learned that he was on supervised probation after having been released from custody on February 17th. He was subsequently charged with 5th offense DUI and disorderly conduct.
Yetter is being held at SCI on a $19,500 cash only bail.
