Sussex Central hands Dover their first loss of the season

The Sussex Central Golden Knights defeated Dover 21-0 last night to give the Senators their first loss of the season. The win improves Central to 3-1 on the year and makes a 3-way tie for first place in the Henlopen South (Dover and Caesar Rodney).

The Golden Knights dominated the Senators all game on all phases of the game.

On offense, the Knights used their commanding ground game to score three rushing touchdowns from three different players. Shihiem Williams got on the board first with a 6 yard touchdown run in the first quarter. On the opening drive of the second half, Isaac Barnes took the QB sneak two yards up the middle for the games second score. Two drives later, Junior Runningback Kasim Lewis added some insurance points for the Golden Knights with a 65 yard touchdown run off the right side.

Defensively Central held Dover to their lowest yardage total of the season and stopped them from passing the Sussex 40 hardline all game. On the Senators last offensive drive, Senior safety Isaiah Barnes picked off a fourth down pass to put the game on ice for Central.

Sussex Central will look to make it four in a row when they travel to take on rival Sussex Tech next Friday at 7 p.m. Dover will try and get back in the win column next Friday when they host St. Georges also

at 7 p.m.
