DART looking for public input to improve services

DART is expanding their service to help meet the needs of residents.

Thursday in Georgetown at one of their planning meetings, officials said they were alerted to needs along route 54 where new apartments are being built, and route 26 where people with non-traditional work shifts need transportation.

They also announced new routes, such as one that will be supplying service to the new Bayhealth Hospital, and the 201 in Rehoboth and 204 in Lewes are now running in the area year-round.

“It all starts with getting an inventory. As with mass transit we need to identify the critical mass of where the trip origins, where people reside, and we need to compare that with trip destinations,” said Cathy Smith, the manager for Delaware Transit.

If you want to have your voice heard and help craft the latest DART Bus routes, there will be two additional meetings in Sussex County.  They will both be held on Friday, September 28.  One at the Rehoboth Public Library at 10 AM, the other held at the Georgetown Library at 2 PM.
